Read On

The frog turned the page. The ebook reader grows up this release — hands-free auto-scroll at a speed you set, tap zones you draw yourself, Apple Pencil page turns, and your reading position saved and synced so you pick up on any device. Plus a faster library, sturdier downloads, and a stack of playback fixes.

New

  • Auto-Scroll — Read hands-free through an EPUB while the page scrolls itself at a speed you choose, from a gentle crawl up to a brisk pace. It pauses on its own whenever the toolbar is showing so the text never slides away while you reach for a control, and it keeps the page counter and progress percentage live as it goes
  • Tap Zones, Your Way — Draw your own tap zones with a visual editor and map any region of the page to Next / Previous Page, Play / Pause, Jump Forward / Back, or Auto-Scroll Play / Pause. Resize, move, and recolor them until the reader feels exactly the way you want; taps outside your zones show or hide the toolbar
  • Apple Pencil Page Turns — Double-tap your Apple Pencil to turn the page, or squeeze an Apple Pencil Pro to go back. Both follow whatever action you've set in iOS Pencil settings
  • Your Place, Everywhere — Your ebook reading position is saved locally and synced to your Audiobookshelf server alongside your listening progress. Close the book on your phone, open it on your iPad, and land exactly where you stopped
  • Smarter Table of Contents — The chapter list now scrolls straight to the chapter you're in and highlights it, shows nested subchapters, and lets you collapse to top-level chapters only when a book's TOC runs deep
  • Page Counter & Progress — See your place at a glance with an "X of Y · %" counter right in the reader chrome
  • Redesigned Reader Settings — A rebuilt settings sheet exposes the full typography surface: reading theme, font family, size and weight, columns, page margins, line and paragraph spacing, and more — with a Use Publisher Styles switch to hand the look back to the book when you want it
  • Open the Reader Faster — A Read button now lives on the mini player and in the player's menu, so you can jump from listening to reading in one tap whenever a book has an ebook

Improved

  • Faster Library Loads — The full library sync now drains in parallel using bulk pages, so large libraries populate noticeably quicker
  • Instant Browsing — Collapsed-series rows and per-row download sizes render immediately from cache instead of recomputing every time you scroll

Fixed

  • Downloads Survive a Token Refresh — A download caught in a mid-transfer token refresh now recovers cleanly instead of stalling or duplicating, and a single coalesced auth retry replaces the old 401 refresh storm
  • Transcription Doesn't Get Stuck — Books with incomplete download metadata no longer trap transcription in a loop (Premium · iOS 26)
  • Seeks Land Where You Tap — Rapid, overlapping seeks now resolve to the spot you actually picked instead of racing each other
  • Finishing a Book Sticks — Marking a book finished reliably reaches the server even if the app relaunches mid-write, and bookmark and offline-session save failures now surface instead of vanishing silently
  • Clear Listen History Clears Everything — Clearing your history now removes every session, not just the first batch
  • Truer Stats — Paused time no longer counts toward your listening totals, and library-completion percentage is scoped to the library you're actually viewing
  • Steadier Chapter List — The chapter list no longer crashes in some languages
  • Clear Upcoming Errors — Upcoming releases fail fast with a plain error when the server can't be reached instead of spinning
