On Your Time

“The sleep timer used to offer 15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes whether or not any of those was how long you actually stay awake. Now it offers whatever you tell it to - up to five durations, anywhere from 1 to 120 minutes, with a per-book override for the series you only ever read three chapters of. Upcoming also stopped being only about books you don't have: the next one you already own is sitting near the top of it.”

New

  • Sleep Timers You Choose - Settings → Playback → Timer Presets now holds your own list of durations. Tap one to change it on a wheel, swipe to remove one, add up to five, or reset back to the defaults of 5, 8, 10, 15, and 30 minutes. Anything from 1 to 120 minutes is fair game. The list you build fills the player's sleep timer menu and the Automatic Sleep Timer's duration picker both, so a duration you set in one place is there in the other. End of Chapter and Custom are always offered and can't be removed
  • One Book, Its Own Timer - The dense series you fall asleep to doesn't need the durations you use for the 40-minute listen you finish in one sitting. Book Settings gains a Timer Presets override that starts from whatever the book uses today, so turning it on changes nothing until you actually edit a row
  • Your Durations Follow You - The preset list rides along in your backup file and in iCloud sync, like every other global setting. A list restored from a backup written by some future version is checked on the way in, so nothing out of range can land in your settings
  • Ready to Listen - Every section on Upcoming was about books you don't own yet, which meant the one book on that page you could actually start - the next one in a series you follow, already on your shelf - was the one book missing from it. Ready to Listen now sits just under Upcoming with one row per series: the earliest book you haven't finished, how far into it you are, and how many are still waiting behind it. Tap a row to open the book (Premium beyond 3 followed series)
  • Service Notices - When Audible broke Upcoming Books, the fix was written the same week - but saying "we know, it's coming" needed an App Store release, so during the window that actually mattered the app could say nothing. A Service Notice is a short advisory shown inside the app when something is known to be broken, and it retires itself once the fix ships. It is words, a date, and at most one link - never a switch that changes how the app behaves. Live and dismissed ones are listed under Settings → About → Service Notices

  • Ready to Listen Doesn't Wait on Audible - It needs one library fetch and your local progress, and nothing from Audible - but it was being published only after the release check had finished asking about every series you follow, which in the field meant 30 seconds or more for a list of 33. It now appears the moment it's computed, while the rest of the page is still checking
  • Translated Everywhere - Ten strings shipped with locales missing and rendered in English inside an otherwise translated app: the Reading List undo label, the streaming badge hint, the corrupt-download warning, the Siri phrases header, and a few others. Siri's shortcut phrases had never been translated into Hindi or Russian at all. All of it is filled in, and the test suite now fails the build if a string ships without every language

Fixed

  • Two Per-Book Settings That Didn't Stick - Headphone Triple-Press and Shake Sensitivity set for a single book updated on screen, looked applied, and were gone when you came back. The per-book record they were meant to be written into never had a column for either one, so the save silently wrote nothing. Both now persist, along with the rest of that screen
  • Series Your Server Hides Are Whole Again - If your Audiobookshelf library has Hide single book series turned on, the server drops those series from the list FableFrog reads series identity out of, so their books arrived with a name and nothing else. It showed: a row per book in Collapse Series instead of a row per series, the series page insisting it had No Books, Upcoming reporting it couldn't match your library, and names carrying their number twice. FableFrog now recovers those series from a source the setting doesn't touch, and reads the bare name back out of the display string
  • "Azarinth Healer #1 #1" - A series name that already carried its number got the number appended again by whatever drew it. Book detail showed it, the Reading List stored it that way and repeated it on every draw, and the View Series on Audible link searched for the number too. Names and numbers are now kept apart
  • Upcoming Stops Guessing Before It Asks - A series with no books in the prefetched grouping was reported straight to you as Couldn't match your library books for this series. It now spends one direct request confirming that before saying so
